The Usos were on the business end of a beat down from Roman Reigns and his allies after they refused to bow before their new king. They wouldn’t be saved by any punches or kicks, but instead it was interference that brought justice for The Usos this week.
Roman Reigns and The Usos relationship has been a rocky one. Roman Reigns saved The Usos from Kneeling to King Woods by Roman Reigns Onslaught on SmackDown.
The much-discussed Bend The Knee battle between The Usos and The New Day was the main event of tonight’s SmackDown. Earlier in the night, King Woods and Kingston challenged Roman Reigns and The Bloodline to a bout in which the loser would be forced to bend the knee. It would be to admit Reigns in Woods’ instance. It would be to King Woods in Jimmy’s case. Jimmy and Xavier were keen to get things going, though they did exchange a few words before Jimmy took a swing. Woods avoided and attempted a roll-up, but Uso escaped.
Uso cornered Woods and landed heavy punches and chops before both going for Hip Tosses, which they both blocked. Woods landed a Dropkick after countering a move with a Leg Sweep, but Uso kicked out of the pin attempt. He then exited the ring to gather his thoughts.
When Woods grabbed Uso, Uso struck him in the face, pulled his face over the ropes, and then slammed his face into the turnbuckle. Uso kicked out of the pin attempt when Woods struck him with another drop-kick.
Woods attempted to subdue Uso before striking him in the chest with a huge chop. He attempted to raise Uso, but Uso retaliated with a headbutt before slamming Woods’ face into the top rope. He then flung Woods to the floor from the ring.
Woods recovered and was on his way to a pin, but Uso kicked out and followed up with a hard kick to the side of Woods’ head. Uso rushed and smashed into Woods, then delivered a powerful knee to him, but Woods kicked out of the subsequent pin.
Uso attempted to use a hold to wear Woods down, but Woods flung him off and kicked him in the abdomen. He attempted a punch, but Uso countered, albeit Woods escaped his next effort and connected with a powerful right hand. After placing Uso on the ropes, he landed a superkick and followed it up with a running knee to the head. Uso was then kicked through the ropes and onto the announce table by Woods, who then went up top. Woods went for the pin with a big Leg Drop from the top, but Uso kicked out at the last second.
Jimmy regained his composure and attempted to hurl Woods over the top rope, lifting him onto his shoulders. He tried for the pin after hitting a Samoan Drop from the top, but Woods kicked out again. Uso went back on top, but Woods got his feet up and rolled Uso up, but he kicked out once again. Uso got his thumb in Woods’ eye, but Kofi drew the referee’s attention away from him. Jey then attempted to assist Jimmy, but the referee stopped him and ordered him to release him. That’s when Woods took advantage and rolled Jimmy up, securing the pin and the victory.
It was time for Jimmy to bend the knee to Woods, as per the regulations, and he was about to do so when Reigns leapt into the ring and hit Woods, knocking him to the ground and knocking the crown off his head in the process. The Usos then went to work on Kingston, hitting the back of Kingston’s leg as Reigns held Woods. Jimmy climbed to the top as Jey grabbed Kingston’s other leg, resulting in Jimmy landing on Kingston’s other leg, inflicting severe agony.
Reigns then reminded them that if they return next week, they’ll learn who the actual king is, and I wouldn’t be shocked if their New Day teammate and current WWE Champion Big E makes a cameo as a consequence.
