Shattersong Online is a game that takes place in an online universe where players can choose to control one of the four races (Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs) and explore a diverse world. In this world there are hundreds of different worlds with their own unique features and stories.
Some former Starbound developers are working on an intriguing 2-D MMO concept. It’s called Shattersong Online, and it claims to be able to link a vast number of worlds into a single shared reality.
“The aether, or cosmos, is divided into numerous universes, which we call shards. Each shard is a single permanent contiguous area or’world,’ and they may all operate on separate physical machines. Players use in-game portals to move between shards.”
