Scientists in Israel have developed a new test that can detect over 50 types of cancer. The scientists believe the test could save lives and reduce unnecessary surgeries, costing billions each year. If this were to become widely adopted, it would likely put many people out of work for good due to technology replacing them in the lab.
A new test that can detect 50 different types of cancer has been developed by a team from the University of British Columbia. The test is 99% accurate in detecting certain cancers, but more research needs to be done before it will become available for general use.A new test has been developed that can detect up to 50 different types of cancer. The test is expected to be available in the U.S. within a year and will allow doctors to better treat their patients and reduce health care costs at the same time, according to Forbes Magazine.?
The “can a full blood count detect cancer” is a test that can now detect over 50 types of cancer. The test is able to identify cancers in the early stages, when they are easier to treat.
(WCCO) MINNEAPOLIS — Nobody wants to be diagnosed with cancer. However, the sooner you find out, the sooner you may start receiving life-saving therapy.
By the end of the year, Mayo Clinic will have a new test that can identify more than 50 tumors. It’s been dubbed a “game-changer” by doctors.

“My father was a healthy person. “He didn’t have any recognized cancer risk factors,” stated Dr. Julia Feygin.
Feygin’s 40-year-old father died of pancreatic cancer when she was 13 years old. He survived for another nine months after being diagnosed at stage three.
“I am certain that there is a purpose in everything that occurs,” Feygin stated.
She’s currently part of a GRAIL team developing a blood test called Galleri, which she claims may identify hard-to-detect, aggressive, and frequently fatal tumors such as pancreatic, ovarian, and esophageal cancers.
“We can drastically enhance patient outcomes if malignancies can be diagnosed early,” Feygin added.
Our blood, according to Feygin, has a DNA signature. A blood test is used to track the DNA that cancer cells shed.
Galleri’s lab receives the two tubes of patient blood extracted for analysis.
“We can locate and analyze these little fragments of tumor-derived DNA in the blood and determine whether there is a cancer signal there based on the patterns we observe.” “We can forecast where in the body this cancer signal is coming from with a high degree of precision,” Feygin added.

In 10 business days, the findings are returned to the healthcare practitioner. A Mayo Clinic interventional trial with 6,600 participants found 29 signals that were followed by a cancer diagnosis.
According to another research, the incidence of false positives is less than 1%.

There are various restrictions on who is eligible to take the exam.
“It’s meant for folks who are at a higher risk of cancer.” It might be as basic as your age.” Feygin explained.
The test is currently only available with a prescription. The test is not covered by insurance. You pay for it yourself, at a cost of $949 right now.
“This is so much above anything else we’ve been able to achieve in the year 2021. Dr. Greg Plotnikoff added, “This is a game-changer.” He has recommended the test to patients and family members who have risk factors, claiming that malignancies diagnosed early are easier to cure.
“We have a possibility to make a huge impact if we can spot problems sooner,” Plotnikoff added.
Being over 60, he also elected to screen himself.
“I wanted to know whether there was any type of signal and be able to do anything about it,” Plotnikoff added.
According to the American Cancer Society, 71 percent of cancer fatalities are caused by cancers for which no screening is suggested.
Feygin says they aim to improve future results for families like hers.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance to bend the cancer death curve and save a lot of lives,” Feygin said.
This test is supposed to be used in conjunction with other tests, such as mammography. Its creator is still awaiting FDA permission. You may ask your doctor to order the test on your behalf. Grail Galleri will be offered at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Jacksonville, Florida, and Phoenix, Arizona before the end of the year. It will be accessible at Mayo Clinic Health System locations in Minnesota and Wisconsin as well. By the end of the year, M Health Fairview will also provide the test.
